The Sacrament of Reconciliation (formerly called confession) is offered on Saturday
afternoons
from 3:00 pm to 3:45 pm.
The confessional is located in the Church chapel.
Private confessions can be scheduled by contacting the Parish office at
916-381-5200
St. Paul Catholic Church also schedules two Communal Reconciliation
Services each year; one before Christmas and another in preparation for
Easter. These services are a wonderful
opportunity for your entire family to share in the Church
community. Priests fluent in the many languages of our Parish offer
reconciliation to all who attend. This service is usually scheduled for
the third Friday in December at 7:00 pm. Watch your weekly bulletin and
this page for updates.
If
you need to refresh the reconciliation process, please

about preparation for confession.

The Sacrament of Penance & Reconciliation
in the Catholic Church
"On the evening of that day, the
first day of the week," Jesus showed himself to his apostles.
"He
breathed on them and said to them: 'Receive the Holy Spirit. If you
forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of
any, they are retained'" (John 20:19, 22-23)
The forgiveness of sins committed
after Baptism is conferred by a particular Sacrament called the
Sacrament of conversion, confession, penance, or reconciliation. To
return to communion with God after having lost it through sin is a
process born of the grace of God who is rich in mercy and solicitous for
the salvation of men. One must ask for this precious gift for oneself
and for others.
The spiritual effects of the
Sacrament of Penance are:
- reconciliation with God by
which the penitent recovers grace;
- reconciliation with the
Church;
- remission of the eternal
punishment incurred by mortal sins;
- remission, at least in part,
of temporal punishments resulting from sin;
- peace and serenity of
conscience, and spiritual consolation;
- an increase of spiritual
strength for the Christian battle.
